Our Story
At Katchafire Golden Retrievers we are passionate about preserving the versatility and beauty of the Golden Retriever.
We are dedicated to breeding healthy, well-tempered dogs that shine as family companions, show dogs, and working partners alike.
Our Mission
At Katchafire, we aim to breed Golden Retrievers who are healthy, sound, good-natured and ready to be part of family life. We value the versatility that makes the breed so special — dogs equally at home beside you on the sofa, in the show ring or out working in the field. Above all, we want every Katchafire puppy to grow into a much-loved member of their family.
Our Philosophy
Our philosophy is simple: a Golden Retriever should be fit for purpose. That means breeding for health, soundness and temperament, while respecting the qualities that make the Golden Retriever such a versatile breed. Whether in the show ring, working in the field or sprawled happily at home, we want our dogs to be capable, confident and very much part of the family.
Part of the family
Our dogs are part of everyday life here at Katchafire — in the house, around the farm and involved in whatever happens to be going on. Even Bruce, our hand-reared Wiltshire lamb, apparently got the memo that he was one of the dogs.
Learning together
Training has always been part of life with our dogs — not just for ribbons or qualifications, but because working together builds confidence, trust and that wonderful partnership between a dog and their person.
Bred with purpose
We value the versatility the Golden Retriever was bred for. Whether it is working in the field, competing, training or simply sharing everyday life, we want our dogs to be capable, willing partners with the temperament to enjoy it all.
We rigorously test our dogs for hip, elbow, and eye conditions, as well as conduct DNA testing for other hereditary health issues. This commitment to health, combined with our dedication to the unique traits of both working and conformation lines, ensures every Katchafire puppy is ready to live its best life.
