Privacy Policy
Last updated: 21 September 2026
Katchafire Golden Retrievers respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through our website and puppy application process, why we collect it, and how we look after it.
We handle personal information in accordance with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.
What information we collect
If you contact us through our website, we may collect your name, email address and any information you choose to include in your message.
If you complete our Puppy Enquiries & Application form, we collect information that helps us get to know you and assess whether one of our puppies may be suitable for your home. This may include:
- your name, email address, phone number and address;
- information about your household, home and property;
- information about children, other pets and previous dog ownership;
- your lifestyle, working arrangements and plans for a puppy;
- the type of Golden Retriever and activities you are interested in;
- whether you are interested in showing, breeding, field work or other dog activities;
- other information, documents or images you choose to provide.
You do not have to submit an application. However, we need enough information to properly consider an application and communicate with you about it.
Why we collect your information
We use the information you provide to:
- respond to enquiries;
- assess puppy applications and help determine whether a Katchafire puppy may be suitable for your home;
- communicate with you about current or future litters and puppy availability;
- manage our puppy enquiry, application and placement records; and
- maintain appropriate records relating to puppies we breed and place.
We only use personal information for the purposes for which it was collected, or for another purpose permitted by law.
How your information is stored and shared
Our Puppy Enquiries & Application form is provided through Jotform. Information submitted through that form is therefore processed and stored using Jotform’s services, which may involve data being stored or processed outside New Zealand.
We may also retain relevant application and puppy placement information in our own business records and systems.
Website contact enquiries may be delivered to and retained in our email account.
We do not sell your personal information or provide it to other organisations for their own marketing purposes.
We may use trusted service providers to operate our website, forms, email and business systems. Those providers may process information on our behalf as part of providing those services.
Keeping your information safe
We take reasonable steps to protect the personal information we hold from loss, unauthorised access, misuse or disclosure.
No online service can guarantee absolute security, but we use reputable service providers and take reasonable care with the information entrusted to us.
How long we keep information
We keep personal information only for as long as it is reasonably required for the purpose for which it was collected, or where we have a legitimate business or legal reason to retain it.
Because puppy enquiries do not always coincide with an available litter, we may keep application details so that we can contact applicants about future litter plans or puppy availability, as indicated on our application form.
Accessing or correcting your information
Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, you can ask us for access to personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate.
You may also contact us if you no longer wish to be considered for a future Katchafire puppy.
Cookies and website information
Like most websites, our website and the services used to operate it may collect limited technical information, such as browser or device information and IP addresses, and may use cookies necessary for website functionality, security or administration.
Third-party services linked from our website, including Jotform and social-media platforms, have their own privacy policies and may collect information when you use their services.
